Nanosecond Range Windows Accuracy with TimeKeeper
FSMLabs has released a technical report validating reliable TimeKeeper® for Microsoft Windows clock accuracy to within one microsecond of UTC. TimeKeeper’s advanced clock steering algorithms exploit new Windows APIs (some not in general release yet) and Nvidia Networking Mellanox ConnectX® 10G adapters with hardware timestamp capability. TimeKeeper clock synchronization on Windows has been orders of magnitude more precise and reliable than competing systems and constantly improving for nearly a decade, but this report documents improvements from single digit microsecond accuracy to single microsecond accuracy. These results allow Windows software to reach levels of accuracy that have previously only been available with TimeKeeper on Linux. As usual for TimeKeeper, either PTP or NTP (or a mix of both) can be used with the same accuracy and TimeKeeper’s unique multi-source fault-tolerance and industry leading clock distribution management and analytics are fully supported.
